The Age of Personal Branding - A Guide
Fake model agencies - beware
Personal Branding - The means by which people remember you…
A broad definition - after all someone might remember you from a spot on your face 😉 - but perhaps a longer version might be: how you use words and imagery to communicate who you are; to help you be…
Uses for headshots
A wolf in sheep's clothing...That's what they are. Photographic studios that pretend to be model agencies to ensnare young, raise their hopes, make money out of them and then achieve nothing else.
This is how it works….
I fell in love...
You probably have a lot to say about a lot of things when you are working on your business. You have different audiences, different subjects, different media, different messages that you want to convey.
Here's a list of all the things that you may need business images for:
Is your first impression giving you a headstart?
I fell in love with photographing women because the impact of their experience & transformation on their self-worth BLEW ME AWAY.
It all started around 4 ½ years ago
The colour RED!
According to The Harvard Study of Communications it only takes seven seconds for you to make a first impression on another human being.
As UNIQUE as you are...
Last time we looked at blue as a brand colour. Today it’s red!
Red is a vibrant colour often with associations with life (blood) and emotion (heart).
Are you blue?
I was in a meeting recently and someone mentioned that there was a competitor who is doing “almost exactly the same” as me.
So actually I’d just like to clarify what makes me different from ANY OTHER PHOTOGRAPHER that I know.
My MISSION is to help women feel confident, relaxed
How women have changed (and the power of photographs in leaving memories)
You will have noticed that I have changed the theme of my cover photo to blue and I quite like the idea of having colour themes for every week, so watch out for what the next one is. As a makeover corporate headshot photographer, colour is a really important part of my job as I need to combine wardrobe, make-up and background to complement brand colours as well as the skin tone and hair colour of the women I photograph.
A brother of the Bee Gees and me - a kiss and tell story
The image on the left is of my beautiful Mum, and my Granny Florrie, who was 77 in this photo. She died a couple of years later.
The image on the right is of my Mum at my son’s wedding in December 2017 at the age of 78. What a difference!
Why wear make-up
The older ones amongst you might recognise Andy Gibb, the brother of the Bee Gees, and if you don’t recognise him then surely the teeth give it away. The other person in the photo is me, an awkward, shy girl of 13 years old, not really understanding why I was in a TV studio, with cages, Phantom Flan Flingers...
OPRAH for PM? Hmmmmm I'm not so sure...
Make up is your best friend – is that a strange statement in today’s environment of body acceptance and body positivity. Bear with me though and you’ll see what I mean.
When you go out with your make up on...
Is a boudoir shoot for you?
I get it, I really do. She's relatible, she REALLY seems to care, she has real life experience, even though she has been very wealthy for a long time....
Actually I can't think of any woman for whom a boudoir shoot would not be a GREAT idea.
Nearly every woman that I photograph used to hate having her photo taken. When the camera came out at family events, she would hide behind everyone else
Creating the perfect business portrait
So following a stupendous year in 2017, I feel the strongest I have ever felt in my life.
I know I can come across as grumpy and some even find me a little bit difficult to connect to initially but that is because actually I'm a bit of an introvert and shy, and lack confidence...
WHAT DO YOUR BUSINESS PORTRAITS SAY ABOUT YOU? Do they say: “I am a smart, approachable and professional woman with a vision for my business and yours”? Or are they more: “I don’t look or feel confident ...
